Beast Feast

We had a Cub Scout outing at one of the parent's home. The Scout and his family are from Venezuela, so the dad volunteered to have an authentic Venezuelan cookout. We cooked chicken, beef, and pork in a traditional manner. We called the cookout....the "Beast Feast".

This is how he cooked the meat.

Looks great....tastes great!

Let's Go Berry Pickin'

Welcome to the Fruit & Berry Patch!

Heading out to the fields.

With the Brandt family....making a peach plan.

That's a peach pickin' device.

Mommy is feeling peachy keen!!

Let us demonstrate for you.

And, that's how it's done.
You only pay for what you take out of the field. So...this one is FREE!

Looking for thornless blackberries.

Stephen enjoying the hunt.

Hmmmm.....horses love blackberries too.

Dad getting in on the fun too.

Good work, Son!
And now...our reward.....homemade fruit slushies.

Okay, now it's time to make some cobblers.

Mighty good-lookin' peaches.

Howdy...from Austin Texas!

Started the morning out by picking seeds from a dried-out Sunflower.

Bronwyn picking out the sunflower seeds.

Today is our 10th year anniversary. We decided to go "letterboxing" with the Blackwoods. Letterboxing is similar to "geocaching" but without the gps. You check the website (http://www.letterboxing.org/) for hidden treasures in your area, and then follow clues to find the treasure...usually just a box with a journal and a stamp. You stamp the box's journal and then stamp your own. The treasure is really the journey to the letterbox. We stopped at Michaels to get a stamp for our family. We call our team "the Warthogs".

We found our first letterbox in Oatmeal, Texas. It was hidden behind this water tower.

Visiting the Longhorn State Park to look for another letterbox.

Our second find!! Stephen was good at following the clues.

Checking out the cave while we were there.

This is part of the treasure of the journey in letterboxing....finding things along the way that you didn't know were there. We stumbled upon this real castle. It's actually a personal residence, but were hosting a wedding when we drove by the castle. Check it out at http://www.falkensteincastle.com/ if you are ever in the area.
